Our Story

Wisconsin Women 4 Our Troops started with one woman and one soldier.

Years ago, Sue Handrick had a good friend serving his 3rd deployment in the Middle East with the U.S. Army Reserves.  She wanted to send him some comforts of home, so she filled a box with snacks and other items he couldn’t get overseas. Being unsure on how to mail a package to a deployed soldier, Sue looked into her options. Through her research, she realized many troops were unable to get essential items and goodies while deployed overseas. After hearing how much her deployed friend appreciated the care package, she decided to spread the good feeling to other deployed troops and asked friends, family and coworkers for donations to send more care packages to more troops.  With these donations, Sue was able to send approximately 30 to 40 care packages to deployed troops a year.

Grateful for the overwhelming support, she started Operation Troop Box with the help of the American Legion Post 228 Ladies Auxiliary in Cedarburg, Wisconsin.  She has subsequently coordinated the shipping of over 500 troop boxes since 2010.

In 2020, she decided to expand upon the efforts of Operation Troop Box and recruited three trusted women (all from Wisconsin) to help form her new organization.  These “4” women formed Wisconsin Women 4 Our Troops, Inc.  Sue, Amy, Lynn and Stacey are passionate about supplying our dedicated troops with the comforts of home through Wisconsin Women 4 Our Troops.

In 2020, Wisconsin Women 4 Our Troops was formed by four Wisconsin women who are passionate about supporting the U.S. military.  We are focused on sending care packages to our deployed women and men.

We rely on donations to fill the care packages with the basics and a little something extra to help show our support and bring the comforts of home to our deployed troops.

Wisconsin Women 4 Our Troops, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
